Saint Oscar Romero was privileged to join himself to Christ in his self-offering - tragically, brutally assassinated while presiding at Mass on this day in 1980. All of this because of his solidarity with Christ's poor in El Salvador.
As monks we are called to be poor with the poor Christ, poor with Christ's own little ones, we regret our hesitation and ambivalence and our failures and beg the Lord's mercy, trusting in the prayers of the Bishop, Saint Oscar.
